From Burnout to Balance: My Journey, My Mission

Introduction

Hi, I’m Jennifer Hope, but most people just call me Jenn. I’m a nurse, writer, wife, mom, and woman who knows what it feels like to be completely burned out.

I started this blog because I’ve lived both sides of burnout — from the professional frontlines as a nurse and leader, and from the personal side as a mom, wife, and woman in recovery. I know what it’s like to hit the wall, to feel empty, and to wonder if you’ll ever find balance again.

My Story

I began my career with big dreams. I built a life I was proud of a rewarding nursing career, entrepreneurial ventures, and later a master’s degree in nursing leadership. But along the way, life got heavy.

Between long shifts, grad school, raising kids in a blended family, and managing ADHD, I spiraled into burnout. As a nurse, I saw firsthand how common this was — and how little support existed. Nurses face double the risk of suicide. Caregivers, professionals, moms — we all get taught that exhaustion is “just part of the job.”

But I also know recovery is possible. I’ve been sober for 15 years after a battle with drugs and alcohol that took me through multiple treatment centers. Recovery taught me resilience tools, routines, and community support that I later leaned on when burnout hit.

Today, I live in that place of balance. Not perfect, but real — where faith, family, and work no longer compete but move together.

My Mission

My mission is simple: to give you hope and practical tools when you feel stuck.

Burnout isn’t the end of your story. You can heal, rebuild, and find balance again. One small step at a time, one breath prayer at a time, one heartbeat at a time.

And most of all — remember this: you don’t have to do burnout recovery alone.

Closing with Grace

Before you go, I want to be honest about something. Faith is a huge part of my story today, but it wasn’t always. I’ve been sober for 15 years, and it took me many of those years before I became a “practicing” Christian.

Not everyone is on the same faith journey, and that’s okay. You don’t have to be.

The tools I share here — journaling, the HALT method, micro-routines, resilience practices — work for anyone who’s struggling with burnout, whether or not faith is your anchor. My heart is that this space becomes a place of encouragement no matter where you are.

Because HOPE is for all of us. No matter how drained, exhausted, or burnt out you feel — there is still hope. That’s why this blog exists, and why my book Burnout to Balance was written: to remind you that healing is possible.

📖 “May the God of hope fill you with all peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13 (NIV)

This verse inspires me daily — because it’s not just about surviving burnout, but about living with peace, strength, and hope again. And whether your path is faith-filled or simply focused on resilience, you are welcome here.
